Blacksmithing to Order

Please note that this guide will be an ongoing project – my blacksmithing tank only hit level 40 at the time of writing, and so has not yet been introduced to subsequent blacksmithing groups.

As well as providing quests to help its patrons specialise, the blacksmithing profession also offers some quest chains up as an alternative means of learning new plans. In this guide, I’ll attempt to walk you through some of the larger quest chains, starting at level 32.

Barbaric Mail Set

This uncommon mail set offers quite decent strength, hit and critical strike ratings to any damage warriors and retribution paladins, and though its lack of stamina enchantments may phase some tanks it wouldn’t be a bad investment for solo PvE work.

The quests are delivered by Orokk Omosh of Orgrimmar, and reward one ‘bind on use’ plan per quest. All of them require level 32 and a blacksmithing skill of 140.

Barbaric Battlements:

• 2x Patterned Bronze Bracer
  • 10x Bronze Bar (5x Copper & Tin)
  • 4x Coarse Grinding Stone
• 2x Bronze Greatsword
  • 4x Strong Flux (vendor-bought)
  • 24x Bronze Bar (12x Copper & Tin)
  • 4x Medium Leather
• 2x Sharp Claw (loot, most commonly found on the hyenas of Thousand Needles)

This quest rewards you with an itemised plan for the Barbaric Iron Breastplate.

On Iron Pauldrons

• 4x Bronze Battle Axe
  • 56x Bronze Bar (28x Copper & Tin)
  • 4x Strong Flux
  • 8x Medium Leather
• 4x Bronze Warhammer
  • 32x Bronze Bar (16x Copper & Tin)
  • 4x Strong Flux

This quest rewards you with an itemised plan for Barbaric Iron Shoulders.

Trampled Under Foot:

• 4x Green Iron Helm
  • 48x Iron Bar
  • 4x Citrine (mined or prospected by jewellers from Mithril and Iron)
  • 4x Green Dye (tailoring vendors)
• 4x Green Iron Bracers
  • 24x Iron Bar
  • 4x Green Dye
• 2x Green Iron Leggings
  • 16x Iron Bar
  • 2x Heavy Grinding Stone (6x Heavy Stone)
  • 2x Green Dye

This quest rewards you with an itemised plan for Barbaric Iron Boots.

Horns of Frenzy:

• 2x Solid Iron Maul
  • 16x Iron Bar
  • 4x Strong Flux (blacksmithing vendors)
  • 2x Heavy Grinding Stone (6x Heavy Stone)
  • 8x Silver Bar
  • 4x Heavy Leather
• 2x Silvered Bronze Boots
  • 12x Bronze Bar (6x Copper & Tin)
  • 2x Silver Bar
  • 4x Coarse Grinding Stone (8x Coarse Stone)
• 2x Silvered Bronze Gauntlets
