General & Professions Macros
Some macros are useful regardless of class, and there are some unique to professions too.
Targetting Macros
Crowd Control
It can be quite useful to set a crowd-control macro if you play a rogue, mage, priest or paladin. Abilities like Sap, Polymorph and Shackle Undead are effective means of stalling part of a mob, but you’ll often be responsible for ensuring that they don’t break away too early. Fail to do so and you may find one or more enemies piling down on you when the Polymorph breaks.
To keep an eye on your crowd-controlled target, add a “/focus” line to a casting button like so:
#showtooltip
/focus
/cast Polymorph
~ Virgar, combat rogue
Tank Aid
Though most tanks will mark their enemies with a sequence of raid icons, there are some easy means of targetting their main target to ensure that you don’t aggravate something which doesn’t have the tank’s full attention.
/target party1target
~ Capricar, shadow priest
Engineering
Tinkers
Grand Master engineers can tinker with some fine gadgets for their gear, but if you find yourself swapping between different gear sets quite often, keeping track of which Nitro Boost boots to use can be tough. Assuming that you tinker all your gear, there are some quite simple means of attaching items to your UI as gear slots, not just specific items.
#showtooltip
/use 10
This very simple and short macro will form a button representing whichever gloves you have equipped; thus your Hyperspeed Accelerators or Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket. Other gear slots include:
- 1 = head; Mind Amplification Dish
- 6 = belt; Frag Belt/Personal Electromagnetic Pulse Generator
- 8 = boots; Nitro Boosts
- 15 = cloak; Springy Arachnoweave/Flexweave Underlay parachutes

Siege Gadgets
I only ever seem to use Goblin Beam Welders and Global Thermal Sapper Charges in siege battlegrounds – placing myself at the gates and letting loose with explosive weaponry, or healing the demolishers as we ride. You can combine the two into one button, but be warned – the tooltips will stop working if you run out of the gadgets themselves.
#showtooltip [nomod]Global Thermal Sapper Charge;[mod:shift]Goblin Beam Welder
/use [nomod]Global Thermal Sapper Charge;[mod:shift]Goblin Beam Welder
~ Gemenar, destruction warlock
